What is the difference between Everyday Bank Accounts and Savings Accounts?

Everyday Bank Accounts help you take care of your daily banking needs, such as make withdrawals, deposits, transfers, pay bills, do debit Point of Sale (POS) transactions, and write cheques. Overdraft protection is also available to help manage your monthly cash flow. You can bank any way you want, in person, at an ATM, online, or through Mobile or Telephone Banking.

Savings Accounts help you save for your goals, such as a new home, a car, or your children's education. These accounts pay you interest at a competitive rate so your savings can grow. When you save regularly in one of these accounts through an Automatic Savings Plan, you can receive bonus interest on your contributions.

Absolutely. You can choose to pay your bills at the branch, through the ATM, online, or via Mobile or Telephone Banking.

What is Self-Service Banking?

Self-service banking refers to all transactions performed at Republic Bank ATMs, with your debit card at the point of sale (POS), on RepublicOnline and Republic Bank Mobile Banking. All Everyday Banking accounts offer unlimited self-service transactions.

Why do you charge a monthly fee?

The monthly fee covers the costs associated with operating your account.

How is interest calculated?

Interest on our Savings Account is calculated based on the minimum monthly balance in your account and is paid monthly. For further enquiries about specific interest rates, contact your local Republic Bank branch.

What should I do if I don't understand a fee on my account?

If you have questions regarding the service fees you have been charged on your account, please speak to a Republic Bank representative at your local branch.

What is an ASP/SSRP?

An Automatic Savings Plan (ASP) is a way to steadily grow your savings over time. It allows you to 'pay yourself first'. Through the ASP, a set amount is transferred at selected dates to your destination account. There is no charge to set up an ASP on a Republic Bank account and the amount of the ASP contributions can be changed at any time. Read more about our Automatic Savings Plan.

The Republic Bank Savings Reward Plan (SSRP) rewards customers with bonus interest when they save regularly through an ASP. The bonus interest is based on your ASP contributions over a one-year term; this is over and above our already competitive rate of interest earned on the account. The SSRP is only available on eligible accounts. Please speak to your Republic Bank representative for details and read more about our Savings Reward Plan.
